ABOUT

Dunedin is the oldest town in Pinellas County having been founded over 160 years ago. The name Dunedin comes from Dùn Èideann, Scottish Gaelic name for Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. Although originally named Jonesboro, the town was renamed in 1882 by 2 Scottish immigrants. Although Dunedin was originally just a small, remote settlement, it’s now known for its charming historic buildings which have been blended with trendy restaurants and small businesses. You won’t find many major chains in Dunedin, especially in the downtown area, which is why locals and visitors from all over love this beautiful community. Not only can you enjoy the many gorgeous beaches of Dunedin, you can also relish in the historic charm and friendly neighborhood feeling that you most certainly feel when you’re there. Dunedin is also one of the few places you can legally drive your golf cart around town (with a permit of course and only in designated areas). The community and its visitors love to support the many small businesses located around the city. From delicious restaurants to boutique clothing stores to quaint souvenir shops, it’s easy to see why this town is so wonderful. One visit and you will be hooked!
